Do you instruct for posing? I’m kind of awkward in front of a camera.
Most of us aren’t models, so it’s no surprise that the vast majority of people tell us when we first meet that they’re awkward on camera or they never look good in photos. These are the same people that you now see filling the galleries on our website in our favorite images. The feedback we’ve probably received most over the years is that we were able to put everyone at ease and make them feel comfortable. Part of this is through our flexible, no stress approach to direction, and part of this is through working with people we connect with. Yes we absolutely provide direction wherever needed. One of the most important and underrated aspects of portrait photography is choosing a photographer who you feel personally comfortable with; someone that you would actually want to spend an afternoon with, and hopefully someone who makes you laugh.
Am I allowed to print the digital photos you deliver to me?
100% yes, with no size or print restrictions either, no watermarks, no hassle – as long as you are printing for personal use.
Do I own the copyright to my photos once you deliver them to me?
As the content creator, under United States copyright law we are the copyright owner of the images. However, you have the freedom to share, print, scrapbook, and use your images for personal use however you see fit. You are free to print them at your lab of choice if you decide not to order prints through our professional print lab associated with your online galleries. What you can’t do is provide them to any sort of commercial entity for commercial use, so if your wedding venue or makeup artist contacts you about using our artwork to promote their business, just send them our way and we would be happy to work out a usage agreement.
How will I receive my photo proofs and make my selections?
Your watermarked photos will be delivered to you in a password protected online gallery. From the gallery you can view, slideshow, favorite and order products like prints and digital files. You can also chat with us (e.g. email or instant message) and provide selections that way, providing image file names and instructions.
How will I get my ordered photos after?
Your photos will be delivered to you in a password protected online gallery. From the gallery you can view, slideshow and download the digital files you purchased or we agreed to provide you.
Am I allowed to put my photos online?
Of course! We know as well as anyone that the main way people like to share their images these days is online (but you should absolutely get some physical prints made!). We only ask that anywhere that you share our images will be for personal use unless previously agreed otherwise and that you credit or tag us or our website to provide credit for the artwork we have created. If uploading to a service like Instagram we ask that you not apply filters on top of the carefully crafted edits we have provided for you.
How long will it take to get my photos?
This depends on the time of year and the size of the project, as during the holiday and school portrait season our editing load builds up a little more. Most clients will receive their images within 2 to 3 weeks or sooner.
How many images are included with your session?
Every package includes a guaranteed minimum number of delivered images. However, this number is an absolute minimum and when deciding which images to deliver we do not work around a target number of delivered images. What this means is that we will never hold back on delivering a good photo because we’ve already reached a quota; If an image is sharp and in focus, well exposed, has good expressions and is NOT a duplicate (nobody wants 15 photos that are almost identical) then we will deliver it. Every session is different though and certain variables can mean some sessions end up with more final images than others.
How much retouching do you do?
Every image you receive is individually edited for color, contrast, exposure and style. Some images occasionally require a little more finessing for temporary things like blemishes and pimples, but things like heavy facial retouching, wrinkle removal or body reshaping are not included with our standard packages and are available for an additional fee.
Will my photos end up on your website?
As a photographer it’s important for us to be able to show our existing body of work to attract new clients and illustrate what we can do! Typically, you can expect to see a few highlights from your shoot to show up on our website, portfolio, blog or social media. We deliver proofs and final images to you in a password protected online gallery so that only people with the password can access your complete set of photos.
Are you insured?
Yes, we am fully insured with both equipment insurance and liability insurance
What is your policy for rescheduling due to bad weather?
While we have shot in every type of weather out there, our personal aesthetic definitely leans towards warm, sunny days with glowing backlight, crisp shadows and deep silhouettes. For this reason, we are always willing to reschedule outdoor portrait and engagement sessions due to bad weather.
What forms of payment do we accept?
We try to make it easy, so we can accept cash, checks, ApplePay, and credit cards with online invoicing.
Can you provide black and white photos?
We can absolutely provide images in black and white as desired.
